Sex assigned at birth refers to the sex assignment of a child at birth, usually based on their external genitalia.
Gender identity refers to an individual’s internal sense of their gender.
Gender expression refers to the way in which a person expresses their internally experienced gender to the world around them.
Sexual orientation is usually expressed later in life and describes a person’s feelings of attraction to others in the world around them.
Because gender identity and sexual orientation are two distinct characteristics, it is not possible to figure out a person’s sexual orientation just by knowing their gender identity.
